I greatly appreciated these NeuroLogic videos as a mom of 6+2 during the sudden Coronavirus-19 shutdown pandemic of 2020. My head felt like a roller coaster juggling the shift to organize both my family and teletherapy for several agencies with different protocols. What a ride!
This new video series helped me re-ground and organize during this initial shake-up of the “Great Shutdown” as Mr. Dwyer, my son’s social studies teacher called it.
I admit, as a veteran homeschooler of 19 yrs, I was initially super excited for this brief opportunity to “school at home” my youngest 3 “minis” for a season. We homeschooled the eldest 3 siblings, the “maxis” all the way through high school. FUN!
At the same time, I was concerned about simultaneously managing most of our college aged kids back from school and spouse now working from home all up close…. 9 of us here indefinitely. Plus, we need to somehow support our brave birdie still flying solo in the Pittsburg area where he’s working and continuing college online.
Scheduling, tons of email updates, laptop pickups, online school assignments, exercise, outside play for gym, bedding, makeshift desk and dance areas, food shopping, huge meal planning, cleaning and sanitizing schedules, cancellations, and so on can be interesting to juggle.
Needless to say, the lesson of this Covid-19 season highlights most how much we all need each other. I am grateful Josh McNeill put together these videos to support caregivers with our new “school at home” homeschool students. I highlighted my favorites which remind me of similar concepts we use at work providing therapy and coaching for kids.
I’m super jazzed Lakeside Neurologic has shared many bite-sized stress reducing concepts in this Neurologic Youtube series to support caregivers.
Enjoy guys,
